Self-Discipline

  • 19.10.25

Self-discipline is the same as self-control. Lack of it, is the reason so many people are in untold pain today. Self-discipline refers to self-imposed standards and restrictions motivated by a desire that is greater than the alternatives. Self-discipline is needed in all aspects of our lives. Yes, we need to exercise self-control over our sexual desires, eating habits, sleeping patterns, financial management, time management, emotions and many other areas. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV God gave us self-discipline but we must exercise it. It is a decision that we have to make. It takes discipline to be distinguished. Those who don't want to die dwarfs, must fully embrace it in their daily endeavours. Disciplined people are known for setting their priorities right, they operate by schedule and run on a budget, they are good at managing their time and are dedicated to all good habits that make for success, excellence, distinction and greatness. George Washington said, "Discipline is the soul of an army; it makes small numbers formidable, it procures success to the weak and esteem to all" In other words, self-discipline engenders uncommon progress, success and prosperity.
